Amigurumi Christmas Gnome Free Crochet Pattern

Today, the new daily crochet pattern Amigurumi the Christmas Gnome Crochet Pattern, I want to give you some information about this pattern;

Tools and materials:

 10 ply/Worsted weight yarn Drops Paris 

(100% cotton, 1.8 oz = 82 yds (50 g = 75 m) 

in 5 colours: 

Red (No 12) – 1.2 oz (33 g), 

White (No 16) – 1.2 oz (34 g)

Off White (N° 17) – 0.6 oz (16 g),

Dark Grey (No 24) – 0.5 oz (14g). 

Light Grey (No 23) – 1.2 oz (32 g). 

– Polyester fiberfill for stuffing. 

– 2 wooden buttons 1/2″ (14 mm).

– Grey sewing thread. 

– Stitch marker

Scissors. 

– Tapestry and embroidery needles. 

Pins. 

Finished size 

Using the hook and yarn as suggested above, your gnome 

(without hat) will be approx 6″ (15 cm) sitting and 8.5” 

(22 cm) standing. 

You can adjust the size by using thicker or thinner yarn. 

Abbreviations:

MR – magic ring. 

sc – single crochet stitch (in UK and Australia – double 

crochet stitch). 

sl st slip stitch. 

hdc – half double crochet (in UK and Australia – half treble 

crochet (htc)

double-loop-st- double loop stitch. 

inc – increase (work 2 single crochet stitches in the same 

stitch). 

dec decrease

ch – chain stitch.

Body + Head

Starting with Light Grey yarn. Hook size E-4 (3.5 mm). 

Round 1: 6 sc in MR [6]. 

Round 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]. 

Round 3: (sc in next st, inc) repeat 6 times [18]. 

Round 4: (sc in next 2 st, inc) repeat 6 times [24]. 

Round 5: (sc in next 3 st, inc) repeat 6 times [30]

Round 6: (sc in next 4 st, inc) repeat 6 times [36]. 

Round 7: (sc in next 5 st, inc) repeat 6 times [42]. 

Round 8: (sc in next 6 st, inc) repeat 6 times [48]. 

Round 9: (sc in next 7 st, inc) repeat 6 times [54]. 

Round 10: (sc in next 8 st, inc) repeat 6 times [60]. 

Rnd 11-20: sc in all 60 st [60]. 

Change to Dark Grey yarn. Do not cut Light Grey yarn

Round 21: Move your Light Grey yarn from back to front (photo 1). Working in back loops only and with Dark Grey yarn crochet sc in all 60 st [60] (photo 2-3).

And working in front loops only, with Light Grey yarn crochet sl st in all 60 st [60] (photo 4-9)

Slip stitches do tend to get tight as you go, so make sure to crochet loosely. Cut off the Light Grey yarn and weave in the end (photo 10-12).

Rnd 22-23: with Dark Grey sc in all 60 st [60] (photo 13). 

Round 24: (sc in next 8 st, dec) repeat 6 times [54]. 

Round 25: (sc in next 7 st, dec) repeat 6 times [48]. 

Round 26: (sc in next 6 st, dec) repeat 6 times [42]. 

Round 27: (sc in next 5 st, dec) repeat 6 times [36]

Begin stuffing the body with polyester and continue to stuff as you go. 

Round 28: (sc in next 4 st, dec) repeat 6 times [30]

Change to Off White yarn

Cut off the Off Dark Grey yarn. 

Round 29: (sc in next 4 st, inc) repeat 6 times [36]. 

Round 30: (sc in next 5 st, inc) repeat 6 times [42]. 

Rnd 31-34: sc in all 42 st [42]. 

Round 35: (sc in next 5 st, dec) repeat 6 times [36]. 

Round 36: (sc in next 4 st, dec) repeat 6 times [30].

Finish stuffing the head. 

Trouser Legs (make 2 pieses)

With Light Grey yarn. Hook size E-4 (3.5 mm)

Ch 21 (photo 1)

Your chains should be not too tight. Join with a sl st to form a ring (photo 2-3). 

Round 1: sc in each chain across the round [21] (photo 4-6)

Round 2: (sc in next 5 st, dec) repeat 3 times [18]Round 3: (sc in next st, dec) repeat 6 times [12].

Round 4: (sc in next st, inc) repeat 6 times [18]

Sl stitch to the last stitch. Finish off and weave in the ends (photo 7).

Suspenders (make 2 pieses)

With Light Grey yarn. Hook size E-4 (3.5 mm). 

Ch 36 (photo 1). 

Starting in the 2nd ch from the hook, 1 sl st in each ch [35] (photo 2). Slip stitches do tend to get tight as you go, so make 

sure to crochet loosely. 

Cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing (photo 3).

Legs (make 2 pieses) 

With White yarn

Hook size E-4 (3.5 mm). 

Round 1: 6 sc in MR [6]. 

Rnd 2-14: sc in all 6 st [6]. 

Sl st in the last stitch. 

Cut the yarn, leaving a tail 

for sewing (photo 1). 

Do not stuff the legs.

Thread a tapestry needle with a long piece of Dark Grey yarn (about 18– 45 cm). Tie a knot in the end of the thread (photo 2)

Pull and fix the thread from the inside out between the rounds 1 and 2 (photo 3). Make an imitation of stripes, winding the 

yarn between the rounds of the legs. Do not pull too hard. Use the photo 4-6 as a reference. 

Weave in the ends (photo 7).

Arms (make 2 pieses) 

Starting with Off White yarn. 

Hook size E-4 (3.5 mm). 

Round 1: 6 sc in MR [6]. 

Round 2: (sc in next st, inc) repeat 3 times [9]. 

Rnd 3-4: sc in all 9 st [9]. 

Round 5: (sc in next st, dec) repeat 3 times [6]. 

Stuff the hand. Change to White yarn. 

Cut off the Off White yarn. 

Rnd 6-16: sc in all 6 st [6]. 

Cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing (photo 8). Do not stuff the arms.

Make an imitation of stripes between the rounds of the arms in the same way as for the legs. Use the photo 3-6 as a reference. 

Weave in the ends (photo 9)

Boots (make 2 pieses) 

With Red yarn. Hook size E-4 (3.5 mm). 

Ch 15 (photo 1)

Row 1: starting in 2nd chain from hook, sc in each chain across the row [14]. Ch 1 (photo 2), turn. 

Rows 2-5: sc in each sc for the entire row [14] (photo 3). Ch 1, turn. 

Join two edges of the piece together with slip stitch. Place a stitch marker in the last stitch (photo 4-6). Now work in rounds. 

Round 6: sc in all 14 st [14]

Round 7: dec, sc in next 10 st, dec [12] (photo 7). 

Rnd 8-12: sc in all 12 st [12] (photo 8). 

Round 13: (sc in next 2 st, dec) repeat 3 times [9]. 

Round 14: sl st in next 3 st, hdc in next 2 st, dec 2 times [7] (photo 9). Your slip stitches should be not too tight

Round 15: sl st in next 3 st, hdc in next 4 st [7]. 

Round 16: sl st in next 3 st, hdc in next 2 st, dec [6] (photo 10)

Round 17: sl st in next 3 st, sc in next 3 st [6].

Finish off and weave in ends (photo 11-14).

Using about 8 9 inches (20 cm) of Drops Paris in Red and a tapestry needle, join the two edges on the back of the boot 

(photo 15-18). 

Stuff the boot. Do not fill up the top of the boot (photo 19). 

Join the Red yarn to the top of the boot (photo 20) and work single crochet stitches along the top edge of the boot 

(photo 21-22). Work single crochet stitches into each stitch for 2 more rounds. Sl stitch to the last stitch

Finish off and weave in ends (photo 23)..

Crochet the second boot in the same way (photo 23). 

Fold down the top of the boots (photo 24).

Hat

Starting with Red yarn. 

Hook size E-4 (3.5 mm). 

Ch 45 (photo 1). Your chains should be not too tight. 

Join with sl st to form a ring (photo 2). 

Round 1: sc in each chain across the round [45] (photo 3-6)

Round 2: sc in all 45 st [45]. 

hange to White yarn. 

Round 3: sc in all 45 st [45].

Beard

With White yarn. Hook size H-8 (5 mm). 

Ch 3 (photo 1). 

Row 1: starting in 2nd chain from hook, sc in each chain across row [2]. Ch 1 (photo 2), turn.

Row 3: inc, inc [4]. Ch 1 (photo 13), turn. 

Row 4: double-loop-st in each sc for the entire row [4]. Ch 1 (photo 14), turn

Row 5: inc, sc in next 2 st, inc [6]. Ch 1, turn 

Row 6: double-loop-st in each sc for the entire row [6]. Ch 1 (photo 15), turn

Row 7: inc, inc, sc in next 2 st, inc, inc [10]. Ch 1, turn

Assembly

1. Use pins to attach the nose to the head. The top edge of the nose should be on or about row 33 and the bottom edge on or 

about row 29 (photo 1). Sew around (photo 2-3).

2. Attach the beard to the head under the nose between rounds 30 and 31 (photo 4-6)

Sew the arms onto either side of the body under round 29 (photo 7-8).

4. Using photo as a guide for placement, sew one end of 

each suspender to front of trousers together with a buttons 

(use grey sewing thread (photo 9-10)

Cross suspenders at back and sew opposite ends of 

suspenders in place on back of trousers (use a tails of yarn for sewing. Weave in ends (photo 11-12)

5. Use pins to attach the hat to the head. 

You can refer to my photo 13-14 

for the positioning. 

Sew the hat to the head at several points. 

6. Use pins to attach the legs onto either side of the body in line with the arms (photo 15). Then attach the trouser legs around 

the legs (the last row of the trouser legs should be at the bottom) (photo 16-17). Make sure the gnome do not throw off his 

balance while sitting (photo 18). I attached the legs between rounds 7 and 10, the trouser legs between rounds 4 and 11. 

Sew around the legs first (photo 19) and then sew 

around the trouser legs (photo 20-22). 

7. Using about 6 – 7 inches 

(15 cm) of Red yarn and photo 23-25 as a guide, sew the boots to the legs. 

Congratulations, you’ve completed your Christmas Gnome!
