the stitches on the inside of the hat. To do so, mark the 6th
stitch of Rnd 12 of each part (count 5 st from any side, but
do not count the slst, the marked stitches should be the
center of the hat (picture 8)). Sew the sides of adjacent
parts together (picture 9). Sew the hole in the middle closed
(pictures 10-11).
Hold the hat with the last round facing downwards and pull
up a loop of purple yarn in the front loop of the closing stitch
in Rnd 15.
Rnd 16: FLO slst in all 56 st [56]
Fasten off in the invisible way. Hold the hat with the last
round facing downwards and pull up a loop of pale yellow
yarn in the last remaining front loop of Rnd 14. Ch 1.
Rnd 17: work this round in FLO: (skip 1 st, sc + hdc + ch-2-
picot + hdc + sc in next st, skip 1 st, slst in next st (picture
12)) repeat 13 times. Fasten off in the invisible way.

POMPON (make 4, in blue, pale red, purple and pale yellow yarn)

Rnd 1: start 4 sc in a magic ring [4]
Rnd 2: inc in all 4 st [8]
Rnd 3: sc in all 8 st [8]
Fasten off, leaving a yarn tail. Using a yarn needle, weave the
yarn tail through the front loop of each remaining stitch and
pull it tight to close. Guide the yarn end through the center to
the back of the pompon.

ASSEMBLY

  • Embroider a line of backstitches between Rnd 6 and 7 of
    the body with blue yarn (right under the remaining loops of
    Rnd 6). To make the knot in the belt, guide pale yellow yarn
    through 2 adjacent front loops of Rnd 6 and tie a knot with
    the ends.
  • Sew on the arms (shortened version, page 16).
  • Put the hair on the head with the closing stitch at the back
    center of the head. The back side of the hair should be placed
    a bit lower than the front side.
  • Sew the pompons to the tips of the hat. Put the hat on.
  • Embroider cheek blushes under the eyes with light red yarn
